Not only this but you will face many other problems like itching of skin, rashes and patches on the skin that not only will look bad but will also disturb your comfort level. Skin dryness will also lead to quick aging and irritability.

However there are various types of moisturizers and creams available in the market yet there is no comparison what the herbs and ayurvedic treatment can do to cure the skin dryness.

What is Dry Skin?

If we talk about ayurvedic concept of skin dryness then it is actually the Vata Dosha or Vata vitiation that causes dry skin. Vata is actually the air and space that governs the movement of blood in the body, thoughts, elimination of waste, breathing as it deals with movement. Person with vata dosha are mostly thin, with slender frame, delicate and dry skin with dry and voluminous hair. But on the other hand these people are very quick in speech and action, lively and always happy. Change is their basic nature. If the balance of your body type is disturbed then you tend to have one or other kind of doshas. Vata dosha is caused with the intake of too much dry or raw food, over consumption of cold and beverages, travelling and over-exertion and regular exposure to dry and col winds.

So understanding your body type and doshas are key to rectify the problem of dry skin. You can then try many home remedies and neem for dry skin that will give you supple and younger looking skin.

Since ancient times neem is known for its wonderful and beneficial properties that has extra ordinary effect on the skin. It actually eradicates the toxin from the body and skin that are harmful to the skin.

Neem oil is an excellent skin moisturizer that contains vitamin E. Vit E is essential for healthy skin and excellent to cure dry skin. Apart from this neem oil also contains fatty acids and emollients to cure the damaged and cracked skin.

Neem oil is also very helpful in restoring the natural elasticity of the skin.

Also with neem oil the dry skin will not get any kind of bacterial or viral infection as this has antibacterial and antiviral properties as well.

You can also consume neem extract or neem drops (as per recommendation) to cure the dry skin. Neem is a great detoxifier and blood purifier. It cleans the blood thus leads to healthy skin.

Take the neem powder and apply it locally on dry skin patches. IT will eradicate the skin dryness.

For healthy skin take bath in water having neem leaves. This will eradicate the mild skin infections.

Changes in Lifestyle for Dry Skin

  • Daily drink plenty of water to restore the balance. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water.
  • Consume fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • If possible then take sound sleep of 8 hours. This renew the blood cells and energize them with fresh oxygen.
  • Protect yourself from UV rays as these leads to dry skin.
  • Stress is the key to all problems so stay away from this.
  • Do not smoke and also do not consume alcohol.
  • Wash your face before going to bed so that your skin can feel the freshness.

Other Home Remedies for Dry Skin

  • Take equal quantity of glycerine and petroleum jelly and apply this on your face to reduce skin dryness. For better effect keep this for a night.
  • Make the face mask with honey, egg, rose water and olive oil. Apply this on face as face mask.
  • Ground some almonds and mix these in 1tsp honey and 1tbsp milk powder. Apply this paste on face and wash it with tap water. You can apply this twice a week and keep for about half an hour.
  • Take the herbal oil and give your skin a massage with this oil. This completely cure the problem of dry skin as your skin get enough moisture.
  • Take a ripened banana and mash it. Apply this on your face and neck. Keep it for 15 mins and then wash with lukewarm water.
  • Take the grapeseed oil and massage your skin with this oil to remove dryness.
  • Mix clay with honey and apply this on your dry skin to treat it.
