Bio fuel is a domestic, renewable fuel used for various purposes and
derived from natural oils like soybean oil, jatropha and neem oil. It is
better than the conventional fossil fuel as it does not emit harmful
fumes and is a cheaper source for generating fuels. Using bio fuels is
the only way to lessen the environmental pollution and lessen the usage
of conventional fuels.
Plants Cultivated for Use in Making Bio Fuel
- Jatropha
- Neem
- Mahua
- Karanja
- Palm
- Linseed
- Kusum
A lot of research, studies and experiments are being conducted the
world over to explore the viability of neem being used for bio fuel
production. This bio fuel will be sold to be blended with diesel. Neem
and jatrophal are being grown on commercial basis for their possible and
effective use in manufacturing bio diesel. A blend of up to 20% of bio
fuel in diesel will not require much modification in automobile engines,
also this bio fuel will be cheaper than the regular fuel.
Bio fuel consumption is increasing in countries like Italy, US,
Malaysia and Japan. This poses a huge opportunity for countries like
India and Burma, which are native places for neem tree.
Usage of Bio Fuel
- Transportation : It is a perfect substitute of conventional fuels
used for trucks, buses, trains and diesel automobiles.
- Generators : According to certain pilot projects undertaken, neem
based bio fuel were used in generators and it has proven to be
successful
- Lighting : bio fuel containing neem oil is being used developing
countries for rural electrification
