Making Neem Leaf Extract

Neem forms an integral part of the traditional Indian medicines. Azadirachta indica, the botanical name of neem has been used in various forms and ways to serve a number of disorders. Neem leaf extract is one such form of neem which is used for treating various ailments. Being a quick home remedy, it has been used in Indian homes for treatment since ages. Though one should know the right technique of making neem leaf extract. Here is a step by step procedure to make neem leaves extract, check it out:

Step 1
First of all, the neem leaves are supposed to be mashed using mortar and pestle. Once the neem leaves are mashed, set them aside in a container or a pot.

Step 2
Now add some water to the leave paste and cover the pot or container using a lid.

Step 3
Next, let the mixture steep for a minimum period of three days.

Step 4
Three days later, strain the mixture using a strainer and remove the leaves from it. The strained liquid needs to clear, sans any leaf bits or pieces.

Step 5
The neem extract is ready to use. You can put it to different uses, for example, mix it with soap and you can use it for controlling pests or insects or else use the paste can be used as a wonderful neem face pack to treat acne etc.

Tip
Do remember to use the neem leaf extract within few days of its making as it might render useless in a longer period of time.
